Community Guidelines

How discussions work on Product Launchpad: verification, categories, moderation, and expected behavior.

Last updated:

These rules apply to discussions on Product Launchpad. They reflect how the product actually enforces behavior in code today. For legal terms, see also our Terms of Service.

Who can participate

To create threads, reply in discussions, or use forum upvotes, your profile must be verified via X or GitHub (verification timestamps on your profile). Unverified accounts cannot complete these actions.

What to post

Choose one category when you start a thread:

  • Show PL — Structured launch-style fields (elevator pitch, problem, solution, tech stack, CTA) composed into the thread body.
  • Roast / Feedback — Feedback and critique threads.
  • Build in Public — Progress updates and build-in-public narrative.

Keep content relevant to the category. Minimum length and field requirements in the new-thread form apply before submit.

Moderation and visibility

Automated checks

New threads and replies may be evaluated by automated moderation. Content that does not pass may be rejected or flagged instead of appearing normally.

Spam keywords and review window

If a new thread matches the platform's spam keyword list, it may be held as not immediately approved, with a 24-hour automatic visibility window. Admins are notified for review. Keyword rules are maintained in admin tools.

Public feed

The public discussion feed shows threads that are approved, or threads that are still pending but have reached the visibility time defined by the platform. Admins can approve, reject, pin, lock, or remove threads from the moderation queue.

Forum restrictions

Accounts may be restricted from forum participation (posting and related actions) without necessarily disabling your entire account elsewhere on the site. If you are suspended from the forum, follow messaging shown in the product and use Contact for appeals or clarification.

Do and don't

Do

  • Verify via X or GitHub before posting.
  • Stay on-topic for the category you chose.
  • Write enough detail to meet form and API limits.
  • Be respectful; constructive feedback beats harassment.

Don't

  • Spam, scams, or malware links.
  • Harassment, hate, or illegal content.
  • Evading moderation or bans (new accounts, etc.).
  • Misleading impersonation of people or products.

Reporting issues

To report abuse, mistakes, or appeal a decision, use our Contact page. Include links to the thread or comment when possible.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to verify my account to post in discussions?
Posting new threads, replying, and upvoting in the forum require that your profile has either X (Twitter) verification or GitHub verification. This reduces spam and ties activity to a verified identity.
What are the discussion categories?
Threads use one of three categories: "Show PL" for structured product launches, "Roast / Feedback" for constructive critique, and "Build in Public" for building in public updates. Pick the category that best matches your post.
What happens if my new thread matches a spam keyword?
The thread may be created in a pending state: it is not immediately approved, and a 24-hour window applies before it can appear in the public feed according to our visibility rules. Admins may review the queue sooner. Spam keyword rules are managed by the team.
When does a pending thread become visible to everyone?
Public visibility includes threads that are approved, or threads that are still pending but whose automatic visibility time has been reached. Exact timing is enforced by the platform; admins can also approve or remove threads.
How does automated moderation work?
Content may be processed by automated moderation. Posts or comments that fail automated checks may be blocked or flagged for review. This works alongside human review in the admin tools.
What is a forum-only ban?
Your account may be restricted from forum actions (such as posting or replying) while the rest of the site may still be available, depending on configuration. If you believe this is a mistake, contact us via the Contact page.
Where are the Terms of Service?
Legal terms for using Product Launchpad are in our Terms of Service. These Community Guidelines explain forum-specific behavior; the Terms still apply to your use of the site.
How can I report a problem or appeal a decision?
Use the Contact page to reach the team. A dedicated in-product reporting flow may be added later; until then, email-style contact is the supported channel.
